Accommodation and costs
There are plenty of options across Malaysia with many different styles of properties ranging from large hotels with lots of facilities such as kids clubs etc to boutique properties offering a more intimate and private setting. Colonial buildings are found all across Malaysia offering a stay with charm and character. Hotels can be booked fairly reasonably compared to other countries especially if you choose an independent boutique brand, for which there are many.
How long to stay
With the time taken to get here, 10 days would be the minimum we’d recommend in Malaysia. A short city stopover is also highly recommended in places such as Singapore, which can be done either at the beginning or the end of the trip. In two weeks, you can discover colonial Malaysia and end on a stunning beach or island hop your way from the west to the east coast.
Weather and when to go
Malaysia, dependent on which coast you visit has two different seasons. The West and East Coast act very differently in terms of weather and rainfall and so it is important to visit at the right time. The best time to visit the West Coast is between October and March and the best time to visit the East Coast is between May and August. April and September and transitional months between the two and so if you wish to visit both coasts of Malaysia, these are the best months to go.
