Peace of Mind with ATOL & ABTOT Protection

Having the peace of mind that once you’ve booked your exciting tour your money is safe no matter what, is priceless.  A key benefit of booking with a UK-based tour operator is that you are covered by very stringent British travel industry regulations and UK legislation throughout your holiday, so you can book with confidence and security.

Temple World has been operating since 1985 and is both ATOL and ABTOT protected. These two schemes guarantee your financial security when booking any kind of holiday or holiday component with us, whether it’s a place on group tour, flight-inclusive package, or simply a hotel.

We are a tour operator rather than a travel agent, which means we are the organisers of your holiday and we package up the components of our tours and holidays (eg flights, hotels, transfers, excursions) in-house ourselves, using our own contracted rates. This is different to a Travel Agency which does not create its own holidays or packages but instead re-sells holidays operated by others.  Note that different regulations apply to travel agencies and independent travel advisors compared to tour operators, as they are allowed to operate without an ATOL.  For this reason, it can be safer to book with a tour operator, but if you do book any holidays or travel components via a travel agency,  it’s absolutely vital that you ensure the holiday or holiday components they are booking for you will be covered by the operator’s ATOL, ABTOT, ABTA membership or similar financial protection scheme.  Note that if you purchase a flight direct with an airline, it is not covered by the ATOL scheme, but it is covered if you book it as part of a package with a UK-based tour operator.

Temple World holds an Air Travel Organiser’s Licence (ATOL) issued by the Civil Aviation Authority (ATOL number 3102).  In the UK, all travel companies selling package holidays with flights must hold an ATOL. If the company isn’t registered in the UK, they aren’t legally required to hold an ATOL and you might find you aren’t as covered as you thought.  If a travel company with an ATOL stops trading, the ATOL scheme protects all customers who had booked with that company. If the company goes into administration before you travel, your money is protected, and you’ll be able to apply for a full refund. If you’re on holiday when the travel company goes bust, the ATOL scheme guarantees you’ll be able to finish your holiday and return home. For more information about financial protection and the ATOL Certificate go to:

When you book a protected holiday, you’ll receive an ATOL certificate as soon as you pay for your trip. The certificate explains how you’re protected and what to do in the event of a company collapsing.  As an ATOL-licensed travel company, most of the flight-inclusive tours and holidays we sell are financially protected by the ATOL scheme, but ATOL protection does not apply to all holiday and travel services (for example, if your booking with us does not include flights).  If your booking or parts of your booking are covered by the ATOL scheme, you’ll receive an ATOL certificate.

When booking with Temple World,  any package arrangements you make with us which do not include flights are covered by ABTOT, the Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust.  Our membership number is 5411.  This insurance provides for a refund in the event you have not yet travelled or repatriation if transportation was included in your package, in the unlikely event of our being unable to provide your holiday arrangements due to our insolvency.  Please note that bookings made outside the UK are only protected by ABTOT when purchased directly with Temple World.

For more details please see our full Terms and Conditions, or the ABTOT website. Where your holiday is covered by ABTOT you will not receive an ATOL certificate with your invoice.

Please note that ATOL and ABTOT cover are not a replacement for travel insurance, as the cover provided is only in the event of Temple World’s insolvency and there is no cover for cancellation by you for medical or other reasons.
