Day 2: Arrive Colombo, Travel to Dambulla
Land into Colombo International Airport and meet your driver and local guide. They will transport you via private vehicle over to Dambulla, just a short distance from the famous Sigiriya.

Day 3: Cycling Trail to Sigiriya
Wake up this morning and revel in the beauty of your surroundings. Meet your guide for an amazing bike ride for the whole family passing by Kandalama Lake, and over to Sigiriya Rock. You’ll weave through hidden paths and local villages on the way.
After you’ve visited Sigiriya, you’ll visit a local house nearby and receive a brief cooking demonstration before enjoying a well-deserved lunch. You’ll cycle back to your hotel for the rest of the day as you please.

Day 4: Minneriya National Park Safari
Spend the morning at leisure before you are picked up for an afternoon safari in Minneriya National Park. You’ll head out in jeeps aiming to spot mainly Elephants but you have a chance of seeing other animals like deer, sloths, purple-faced langurs, toque macaques and many other birds. If you’re lucky enough you may even see Leopards. The team here are trained to spot the animals before you even do, so keep your eyes out for the animals and your ears out for your guide!

Day 5: Travel to Kandy
Today you’ll be checking out of your lakeside hotel and carrying on with your journey down the centre of Sri Lanka and to Kandy. This lovely city is quaint but holds a lot of history, with tuktuk’s all around, you’ll have no issues getting out and about.

Day 6: Full Day Exploring Kandy
You’ll have a couple of activities today, so conserve your energy and make sure you have a good breakfast at your hotel before you are picked up for your first trip. You will be heading to the popular Temple of the Tooth, and your local guide will explain to you why this Temple is called what it is and you will visit all areas of this Buddhist Temple.
After some time back at your hotel for some leisure time you’ll be picked up again to visit some more sights in Kandy. If there’s anywhere specifically you want to see, just let your driver know and they’ll be sure to arrange that. Otherwise, they’ll be taking you to all the popular destinations and teaching you about them.

Day 7: Kandy to Ella Train
Hop aboard one of the most iconic things to do in Sri Lanka – the Kandy to Ella train. This journey is actually usually very long so the drivers will take you some of the way and pick you up the other end so you can experience a few hours rather than 12-14 hours! Make the most of the incredible views of the beautiful landscape, head over the 9 arch bridge and see the local villages as you go through this area.

Day 8: Ella City Tour
Today you’ll head out and explore the city of Ella. As with Kandy you are welcome to speak with your driver and mention what you’d like to do during your trip. Usually you will visit things like the Nine-Arch Bridge and the beautiful Ravana Falls too.

Days 9: Head South for Safari Time
Now it’s time to Safari! You’ll be transferred in a private vehicle from Ella to your resort in Udawalawe, just 10 minutes from the National Park. You will have activities included on Day 10 but if you want to add any excursions on you can visit the Elephant Orphanage nearby, head to Udawalawe Village or go to the Maduwanwela Walawwa (Nobleman’s House) home of Maduwanwela Disawe who was a regional ruler in the British era.

Day 10: Morning & Afternoon Safaris
Enjoy morning and afternoon safaris today with a full trained guide. They set out to see a range of animals including Elephants, Wild Boar, Sambars, Chital, Water Buffalo, Crocodiles, Deer, Monkeys, Sloths, Jackals, Mongoose, Bandicoots, Birds and so much more! You will get a chance to spot and learn about these animals in the comfort of a safari jeep.

Day 11: From Safari to Beach
Take a 2 and a half hour journey from Udawalawe National Park down to Galle to get by the beach. This UNESCO World Heritage city is also home to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Galle Fort, the walled remains of a fortress first built by the Portuguese in the 1500s.

Days 12-14: Free Days in Galle
Make the most of your incredible hotel and the free time you have in Galle. Explore this incredible city and all it has to offer, or kick back, relax and unwind using the hotels facilities and dining on incredible food.

Day 15: Fly back to the UK.
Time to go home. Early this morning you’ll be collected for a transfer back to Colombo Airport and from here you’ll catch your flight with Emirates via Dubai back to the UK.
